Production & Materials

Materials

All Polock sakiori cushions are made from Japanese wasted kimonos.
We specially select the colors and the textures from various kind of kimonos to make a modern sakiori cushion.

Upcycle

We carefully collect and dismantle these garments, repurposing them into weft yarns. This not only minimizes waste but also breathes new life into fabrics with historical and cultural significance.

Hand Weaving Sakiori Fabric

Sakiori is a Japanese traditional weaving method which has started from the Edo-period.
It was a way to take care of clothes and fabrics after they were damaged and before discarded.

Production with Social Welfare Facility

In our pursuit of sustainable production, we proudly collaborate with individuals in social welfare facilities. Recognizing the unique skills and concentration abilities of people with autism, we provide a platform for them to express their talents through weaving. We firmly believe in the inherent value of every individual and their potential to contribute meaningfully to the world.
